Opel Ireland has partnered with Mondello Park to launch the EARLY-DRIVE Road Safety Program 2022. A unique young driver training program, developed by Mondello Park and the Irish School of Motoring, EARLY-DRIVE | Electrified by Opel, has been specially designed for young people aged 13 to 17 to give them a valuable first driving experience behind the wheel of an Opel Corsa on the famous Mondello Park circuit in County Kildare.

Mondello Park recently took delivery of five Opel Corsa models, including two fully electric Corsa-e models, ahead of the launch and the new school year in September.

The EARLY-DRIVE | The Electrified by Opel course at Mondello Park aims to instill general road safety awareness in students from an early age, ensuring that they immediately become safer pedestrians and cyclists and setting them on the right track. to become safe drivers of the future.

With a combination of on-track practical and off-track theory sessions, the course is delivered in a fun, exciting and ultimately safe environment. A Road Ready session includes practical theory test questions and a step-by-step guide to applying for a driver’s license.

The highlight of the day sees participants drive an Opel Corsa electric or petrol dual-drive zero-emission automatic on the famous Mondello Park track, with an instructor at their side. They learn precise throttle and steering control, proper speed and braking techniques, parallel parking, reversing, spatial awareness and observation skills.

Roddy Greene, Managing Director of Mondello Park, said: “It’s a day to remember for the teenagers, giving them their first driving experience in the safe environment of our circuit. The excitement and fun of the day is evident. The ISM (Irish School of Motoring) has been a significant contributor to the creation of the program and we are delighted to partner with Opel Ireland.

Richard Dillon, Retail Sales Manager, Opel Ireland, said: “It is very timely to partner with Mondello Park and launch EARLY-DRIVE | Electrified by Opel, given the recent announcement that Opel will be purely electric in Europe by 2028. Indeed, today’s young learner driver can only drive an electrified and automatic car and we are delighted to be part of this transition. The zero-emission Opel Corsa-e is the perfect introduction to driving; fun to drive, it also looks great.
